Pewter Pendant
What is better Sterling Silver or silver tone pewter?
1) Which one will last longer, why?
2) Will any of them discolor?
3) How fast will they discolor if they do?
4) In your opinion which one would be better as a Necklace Pendant?
I would like as many answers as possible
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925. The silver is usually alloyed with copper to give it strength but preserving the ductility.
It starts to tarnish for a period time. Don’t use Toothpaste to clean it with! The chemicals in Toothpaste are too harsh for Silver and it’ll do more damage than good. And just remember, wear your Silver often, keep it dry and clean, and polish it a couple times a year.
I think sterling silver is better as a necklace pendant.
